Description: Occasionally tapes are marked read only. When you uncheck the 'read only' box in the properties of the tape, the tape is scanned, but fails, and is marked unusable. Blanking the tape makes the tape work normally again. This is because the drive is not configured to stop writing to the tape soon enough, and winds up reaching the end of the tape before it can write a terminator to the end of the segment. Amount of media reserved at end of tape (MB) sometimes has a default setting of 25MB, which will cause the problem.

1. Go to device management, right click on the drive, and select Configure.
2. Go to the configuration tab, and change the 'Amount of media reserved at end of tape (MB)' to 2048MB
