After updating my ESX host, when I try to backup some Virtual Machines I get this error.
Message: VM lock failed. (Failed to acquire vm lock /vmfs/volumes/4c5r45ce-525bb14c-911d-0026552c621e/Server/.vzmutex due to an SSH connection issue.)
After applying a patch to ESX host or any other version of ESX host, firewall ports usually get closed, which breaks the communication between vRanger and ESX host.
How to re-open closed firewall ports on the ESX host: Please go to Inventory inside the vRanger application. Find the ESX host on which jobs fail with above message. Right click on the ESX host and select “Credential Properties” Click “Update” After this if ports are closed an pop up box will appear asking you if you would like to open closed ports on ESX Host Please select “Yes”
Attempt backup again.
