Seeing error 2654 when performing a Lan-free(Fibre or iSCSI) backup (4045694)

When you run a Lan-free(Fibre or iSCSI) backup you see this error "An internal error occurred during execution, please contact Vizioncore support if the error persists. Error Message: 2654 - can't read vix:r:VC/host:902:[datastore] VM/VM.vmdk:moref=vm-25:snapshot-31:2 [at io_size:125]" on all jobs.

This issue can occur when using a EMC SAN for your virtual storage and you also have Powerpath 5.2 or earlier Powerpath build installed on the vRanger machine. Powerpath versions prior to Powerpath 5.5 provides the vRanger machine with a different path to the Luns that are used for your datastores and when you try to run a Lan-free backup vRanger fails with error 2654.

Please check the version of Powerpath that is installed on your vRanger machine. If it is prior to Powerpath 5.3, please visit the following EMC support site http://www.emc.com/support-training/support/eservices-support-tools.htm or contact EMC at the following number 1-866-438-3622 to get assistance with downloading Powerpath 5.5. Once you replace your installed version of Powerpath with Powerpath 5.5 the vRanger machine will be provided with the correct path to the Luns that are used for your datastores and the Lan-free(Fibre or iSCSI) backup issue will go away.
