After upgrade vRanger won't start do to: "Can not connect to service" error message.
The SQL user or domain user selected during vRanger setup did not have "DB owner" security rights on the vRanger database. And the DB did no upgrade correctly during the vRanger upgrade.
Please give the user which you are using to connect to vRanger database a "DB owner" security rights to vRanger database and re-run the database setup with those steps:
Please follow these steps to correct the issue.
Re-running setup on vRanger database:
Click on Start
Click on All Programs
Click on Quest Software
Click on vRanger Backup & Replication
Click on vRanger Database
Click Next
Chose Install/Upgrade on an existing SQL Server 2005/2008 and choose the correct Server Authentication and Click Next
Click Verify
Click Next
Click Next
Click Yes on the Existing vRangerPro database found
Click on Automatic Setup
Click Next after the Upgrade process is done running
Click Finish
Restart vRanger services:
Stop the vRanger services
Stop vRanger API Service first
Stop vRanger FLR Service second
Stop vRanger Service
Start the vRanger services third
Start vRanger Service first
Start vRanger FLR Service second
Start vRanger API Service third
Start vRanger (This time vRanger should start correctly)
Note:If you are using windows authentication to connect to vRanger database. Please make sure to use the same user to start the vRanger services with. If the user is not a domain admin please make sure he is part of local admin group.
