When installing the vRanger Virtual Appliance on AMD Opteron 6174 processor it fails with a kernel panic
The vRanger VA is by default 'VM Version 4'. VA virtual hardware version 4 appears not to be compatible with some 6xxx series AMD processors.
1. Turn off VA
2. Right click on VA - Upgrade Virtual Hardware [ to version 7 for vSphere 4 or version 8 for vSphere 5 hosted VA ]
3. Turn on VA
4. VA boots successfully
