Getting error on Replication, both source and target hosts are ESXi 5.0
Error Message: Virtual appliance 'Vzva-1.1.3-ESX host name' has not been configured with a required data disk.
This error usually indicate that scratch disk is not configured properly.
OR both Source and Target VA (Virutal Appliance) have not been restarted or rebooted after configuring the scratch disk.
The 2nd vmdk\ scratch disk that is required for ESXi replication on the each VA has not been setup\ configured.
This error usually indicate that scratch disk is not configured properly.
When you configure the VA(Virtual Appliance) for replication (on each ESXi host), you have to add a secondary "scratch" disk to each one as a "swap space" for the replication. This disk just needs to be attached to each VA as an additional .vmdk file, no formatting necessary (I think its on pp. 80-84 of the Installation Guide).
As for sizing, the SOURCE side scratch disk does not to be very large, but the target on needs to be sized roughly as 50% of the size of the LARGEST VM you'll be replicating at any given time. If you're replicating two machines at once, that goes up to 50% of BOTH of them, etc. So, if you were doing one replication of a 100GB VM, the scratch disk would need to be 50GB....
A reboot of both Soruce and Target VAs is required post configuring the scratch disk.
Also Please reference the following link below page 81 of the vRanger 5.2 installation & setup guide. This will show you how to setup the scractch disk for each of the Virtual Appliances involoved in ESXi Replication.
