How does NetVault integrate tape library with Rapid Recovery?
Description

As part of a disaster recovery plan, recovery points taken by Rapid Recovery might need to be written to tape in order to export them offsite.
Resolution
For this setup to work, there are two requirements:

a) The NetVault Server software must be installed on the physical server where the tape library or stand-alone tape drive is connected.

b) If this setup will be used for more than 30 days, the NetVault Server will require a license. There is a special NetVault License specifically for this purpose called NetVault Tape Integrator .

Please refer to the NetVault Sizing Guide for details regarding Hardware Requirements.

Start by allocating storage space on the NetVault Server system to be used as the Rapid Recovery Archive target.

The following steps will show how to create a Rapid Recovery archive, followed by the NetVault job which will send the archive to tape:
1. Create a Rapid Recovery Archive
2. Select the Archive Type
3. Choose the Archive location, select Network if you have provisioned a shared folder in the NetVault Server or in another server. Alternatively, you can select Local and choose a drive within the Rapid Recovery Core.
4. Select machines to add to the archive.
5. Select recycle options for the archive.

Once the archive has been generated, create a File System backup job in NetVault.
1. Go to Create Backup Job from the NetVault WebUI left navigation pane.
2. Create a new selection and expand the File System plugin on the NetVault Server to select the folder where the RR Archive is located.
3. Alternatively, a network share can also be used as the location for the Rapid Recovery Archives.
4. Once the backup Selection Set has been created in NetVault, configure the job schedule, device target, and retention policy.
