Backup task fails with error: “Error Message: 2568 - can't find parent uuid“
The same VM is failing with above error message while performing Incremental or differential backup. Other VM’s backup without problems.
On Demand jobs will complete successfully.
For unknown reason the backup set which consists of a Full backup and a number of Incremental or differential savepoints of a particular VM is broken. Because UUID in the Global Manifest and/or the database is not what is current in the virtual environment now.
There are three possible workarounds:
1. Please delete the latest full and all differential/incremental savepoints which were created for the particular VM, this needs to be done from vRanger GUI and from the windows explorer.
Or
2. Recreate a new scheduled job, which will force a full backup to be performed next time the job runs for that VM. Be aware that if you have many VMs in the job, this can cause issues with space in the repository as all new savepoints are part of a new job and all the old savepoints will not be deleted by the retention policy of the new job.
An alternative is
3. Create a snapshot on the VM before the next backup starts. This will force a full backup of the VM. Once the full backup completes, remove the snapshot. The next backup pass will be incremental/differential. This process has no effect on the other VMs in the backup job.
