Rapid Recovery getting stuck every 2-3 days on Citrix Xen VM due to memory leak -
Description
Rapid Recovery Core is running on Xen VM and getting stuck with excessive memory usage every 2-3 days -
Cause
Xen tools are causing memory leak when there is a big number of network connections happening. Using RAMMAP from Microsoft Sysinternals package shows memory usage as "Driver Locked" -
Resolution
The issue is caused by Citrix Xen VM tools, that are constantly allocating RAM during network operations. Since Core is very network-intensive application, the issue becomes critical over a period of 2-3 days, requiring Core VM to reboot.
Citrix is currently working on resolution. To resolve the issue, Core installation should be migrated to different hypervisor platform or to the physical machine.
