Snapshots are not removed after backup or replication
Description
When running backups on VMware vCenter, you may experience this symptoms:
Snapshots are not being removed after backups.
Error: One or more disks from virtual machine <vm name> is already mounted to virtual appliance
Cause
The could be two possible causes for this problem:
vRanger server is being backed up in the same job with different VM's. This causes random network disconnections due to the snapshot process, which affects the communication with vCenter to add/remove the attached disks or to remove snapshots.
vRanger 7.1.1 is not fully compatible with VMware 5.5u3. Some features are still available.
Resolution
To resolve the issue, please follow these steps:
Set the vRanger server backup individually in a different job to be run in a different schedule to avoid impacting the backup of production VM's.
VMware 5.5u3 is fully compatible with 7.2.1 or higher. If running an older version, please upgrade the application in order to resolve this issue.
