"Invalid snapshot configuration" -
Description
When running an existing replication job the job can fail with the following error "Invalid snapshot configuration". -
Cause
The snapshots of the replica VM were deleted via the datastore folder of the replica while the actual replica VM was still pointing to the non-existent snapshots.

Resolution
To correct the issue follow these steps.
- Open the vSphere client and connect to the VC/Host where the replica VM can be found.
- Right-click the replica VM and right-click on Edit Settings.
- Remove the disks from the replica VM.
- Readd the base .vmdk files for each disk.
- Rerun the replication job.
Additional troubleshooting steps for stale snapshots in the datastore.
- Please login to the Virtual Center.
- In the Datastores inventory, browse the affected VM's folder and review if you have snapshots that do not exist in Snapshot Manager. The name convention of the snapshots is VMname-00000N.vmdk.
- Go to Hosts and Clusters, and navigate to the affected VM.
- Right on the VM and try to create a snapshot, uncheck the memory option.
- Confirm that snapshots are created successfully or if the same issue persists.
- If the issue reproduces, it could be possible that there could be some orphan snapshot for the VM.
