You are spinning up a new Rapid Recovery core server and intend to move some of the settings from the old one to the new one. Although most settings can easily be set manually, due to their share number, setting the notifications the same way as they were on the old core may be a time consuming and error prone task.
You would like to have some kind of automated process to perform this task.
To solve the issue a PowerShell script was prepared, The script can be run on a management workstation and allows connected to any remote Rapid Recovery core located on an accessible network. It allow pulling the Notification Settings from a core and pushing them to another one. Additionally, it allows pulling the notifications settings and saving them locally for future use as a XML file.
In order to lower the learning curve the script features a text user interface with 4 main options:
1. Select a remote core that is either the pull Notifications or the push Notifications core. You need to know the core name or IP address and credentials. If the Core Engine does not listen on port 8006 (the default) you can enter the correct port as well.
2. Select how the Notification Settings are retrieved (either by pull or from file). If the Notifications are pulled from a remote core, the option to save it locally shows up as well.
3. Apply the selected notification settings. If the Notification settings were pulled from a remote server, a new server may be selected. A Warning dialog allowing to cancel the operation and selecting another server helps avoiding errors.
The script is attached to this KB.
This script is provided "as is" for the purpose of illustrating how RapidRecovery/AppAssure tasks may be performed in conjunction with Powershell.
