Port 8006 Troubleshooting (4033565)

This article describes several troubleshooting steps for Firewall port 8006.

TCP ports use the Transmission Control Protocol. TCP is the most commonly used protocol on the Internet and any TCP/IP network. Whereas the IP protocol deals only with packets, TCP enables two hosts to establish a connection and exchange streams of data. TCP guarantees delivery of data, and that packets will be delivered in the same order in which they were sent. Guaranteed communication and delivery is the key difference between TCP and User Datagram Protocol (UDP).

Complete the following steps.

• Ensure the agent service is running on the machine.
• Ping by hostname, as this can resolve the IP correctly.
  • Ping from Core to agent
  • and agent to Core.
  • If not, add a host files entry on either/both sides.
• Ensure that all firewalls are disabled on both sides or include the following exceptions for AppAssure 5:
  • 8006 from Core to agent and agent to Core
  • Use telnet to ensure that the port is open
• Check UAC settings.
• Check the anti-virus on the agent
  • Some anti-virus solutions will prevent metadata from calling
• Increase the client connection timeout settings
  • Navigate to the Core Console and select the Configuration tab.
  • Select Settings and set the client timeout to 5 minutes.
  • Check the Core registry and ensure that the settings saved correctly (HKLM\SOFTWARE\AppRecovery\Core\ClientTimeoutSettings)
  • ConnectionTimeout should be set to 00:05:00
• If the machine has already been added to protection, attempt to re-add it.
