Microsoft Surface Pro 4 unable to boot using BMR process
Description
Using AppAssure BootCD, the Surface 4 Pro is unable to boot and perform a BMR process. Device is connected to the docking station.
Cause
AppAssure BootCD is using an older version of WinPE kernel. Surface 4 Pro is hardware-locked to specific Windows kernel versions that it can boot.
Resolution
To perform a BMR process on the Surface 4 Pro the following prerequisites should be met:
BootCD ISO must be created using 6.x version of Rapid Recovery. AppAssure BootCD will not work. Bootable USB needs to be connected to the USB port on the device itself
3rd party USB/NIC network dongle should be used and connected to the USB port on the docking station. Onboard Ethernet port will not work.
3rd party USB/NIC dongle driver needs to be injected
