BSOD on xx50 Systems (4312324)

A Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) occurs during the start of a KBE on EXX50 series systems. Example E7250 / E7450. These systems will display the error message:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

Solution 1:

Create new KBE using Driver Pack 5 (WINPE5) and Windows 8.1 ADK for the boot environment. This KBE will deploy Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 OS images/scripted installs.

Solution 2:

To create a new KBE these steps should be performed:

1. Download the driver  cab file for the needed operating system / system model combination
2. Download the WinPE3 (Windows 7 or before) or WinPE5 (Windows 8.1) driver pack. Once at the support site click on Download New Releases. Under Utilities the available downloads are listed.
3. Navigate to \\k2000\drivers\kbe_windows_x86 or \\k2000\drivers\kbe_windows_x64 (depending on the OS to deploy)
4. Backup the contents of that folder and then clear / delete the contents (the folder should then be empty)
5. Extract the zip file downloaded in step two and copy the contents of the correct folder (x64/x86) to kbe_windows_x86 / x64
6. Search for all "iaStorA.sys" files in this folder (including subdirectories ) and delete all of them
7. Create a folder called "custom" within "\\k2000\drivers\kbe_windows_x86 / x64"
8. Extract the .cab file downloaded in first step and copy the correct (x86/x64) storage folder into this "custom" directory
9. Perform a driver recache on the K2000
10. Build a new KBE with the latest Media Manager and the correct AIK (Windows7) or ADK (Windows 8 / 8.1)

This new KBE should work for the xx50 Systems as well as all other systems that previously worked with the WinPE3 / 5 Driver Pack.

If there should still be any problems, please create a separate KBE just for the xx50 systems, without any WinPE Driver Pack Component at all.
