How to install VMWare Tools for Virtual K2000 or Remote Site Appliance (RSA) -
Description
VMWare tools improve the performance of the virtual machine and updates the network module (among others ) and while the guest operating system can run without them, many VMWare features are not available until they are installed. -
Resolution
VMWare Tools can only be installed on a running VM
- Open the VMWare Server and select your Virtual K2000 (SDA) or RSA on the left side of the screen
- Ensure your virtual machine has a CD/DVD drive. If it does not shut down the VM from the WebUI and add one
- Find the VM listed on the left side and right click then select "Install VMWare Tools"
- Next login to the Virtual machine via the WebUI
For virtual SDA: go to settings and Maintenance > Appliance Maintenance click on any "edit" button (version 4.0 does not include the "edit" button)
For RSA: go to settings and Maintenance and click on any "edit" button (version 4.0 does not include the "edit" button)
5. Click on the "Update VMWare tools " button
6. It will take a few minutes to finish the task
Once done, the "update status " will show "Completed"
7. Reboot the VM to pick up the change.
8. Log back into the WebUI and navigate back to Appliance Maintenance (for Virtual K2000) or Settings and Maintenance (for RSA)
9. The VMWare tools section should now show the version of VMWare Tools that has been installed.
