The KACE Systems Management and Systems Deployment Appliances both offer built-in backup technology (SMA performs disk and database backups while the SDA offers export/import of packages).
Various backup technologies such as snapshots, Veeam, Veritas, and other third-party solutions can cause performance issues or corruption of the KACE appliances. Some of these solutions have compatibility issues with FreeBSD (the underlying operating system of KACE appliances). As such, these technologies are unsupported. The only supported backup/restore options are those provided within the KACE appliances.
Running on snapshots is strongly discouraged, as this can have a noticeable negative performance impact on KACE appliances. If snapshots exist, they should be merged to prevent issues.
