Performing agentless inventory on a Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) or a Hyper-V host requires some configuration. The same user account is used for performing inventory of the VMM server and each of its managed Hyper-V hosts.

Prerequisites

• Windows Remote Management (WinRM) has been enabled on the VMM server and each Hyper-V server.
• Specified user account is a member of the local Hyper-V Administrators group on each Hyper-V server.
  

Configuration Steps

1. Open the Microsoft Virtual Machine Manager console.
2. Select the Settings tab at the bottom, right side of the navigation pane.
3. Right-click User Roles at the top of the navigation pane and select Create User Role.
4. Provide a name and description for this user role. Click Next.
5. Select Read-Only Administrator profile. Click Next.
6. On the Member page, click Add. Browse/enter the desired account. Click OK. Click Next.
7. Select the checkbox next to All Hosts. Click Next.
8. On the Library Servers page, click Add.
9. Select the Virtual Machine Managers to grant access to. Click OK. Click Next.
10. Click Next on the Run As Accounts page.
11. Review the information. Click Finish when satisfied.
