Introducing Foglight for Siebel Systems

This provides a general overview of the Foglight for Siebel Systems components and agents. The SiebelServer Agent monitors Siebel activity by connecting to, and querying, the Siebel system.

Foglight for Siebel Systems overview

Foglight for Siebel Systems extends the Foglight foundation product with a specialized agent designed to assist Siebel eBusiness Applications by providing application health status and capacity planning information. The Foglight solution for Siebel eBusiness Applications monitors the availability and performance of the different entities of the Siebel eBusiness Application environment. Important information about the web servers, Siebel gateway server, Resonate Schedulers, Siebel servers, database and network is monitored at a configurable frequency by the Foglight agents. The overall health and performance of the Siebel environment is presented at any current or historical time.

Foglight for Siebel Systems dashboards

These dashboards provide a visual representation of the status of the major components of the Siebel agent. They allow you to determine any potential bottlenecks in Siebel system performance. For more information, see Foglight for Siebel Systems Summary Dashboard .

Foglight for Siebel Systems Agent

Foglight for Siebel Systems includes the SiebelServer Agent, which monitors the collection of data by the Siebel web-enabled management system. For more information, see About the Foglight SiebelServer Agent.

Using the SiebelServer Agent, the Siebel administrator can gather information and answer questions about the Siebel servers in the Siebel environment:

Is the Siebel server up and running?

•

Can the Siebel server connect to the Siebel database or the gateway server?

•

Do I have enough Siebel servers?

•

Are the Siebel components properly distributed?

•

Is an individual Siebel server process consuming too much CPU or memory resource on a host?

•

Are all the enabled Siebel components assigned to the Siebel server online or running?

•

Has a Siebel task exited with error?

•

Has a particular error occurred in one of the numerous Siebel task logs?

•

Is the number of running tasks in a Siebel component nearing the maximum number allowed?

•

Has an application object manager encountered any errors?

•

Are the Transaction Router, Transaction Merger, and Transaction Processor components running?
