Alarm Log

The Alarm Log displays a table of logged alarms for your defined Spotlight connections. Alarms can be filtered by connection or severity.

To see the alarm log

Click Monitor | Alarm Log.

Understand the Alarm Log grid

Column	Description
Time	Time at which the alarm was raised or canceled.
Connection	The connection the alarm was raised on.
Connection Type	Type of Spotlight connection that raised the alarm (for example, Spotlight on SQL Server). This column is hidden by default.
Details	A brief description of the cause of the alarm.
Severity	The degree of urgency of the alarm. The color used depends on the severity of the alarm. See "Alarm Severity and Color Scheme" (page 1) for more information.
Alarm	Name of the alarm.
Snoozed By	The user who requested the alarm be snoozed.
Snoozed Until	The time the alarm is snoozed until. See "Snooze Alarms" (page 1) for more information.
Acknowledged by	The login name of the user who acknowledged the alarm.
Acknowledgement Comment	The comment entered by the user when they acknowledged the alarm. Note: When the user acknowledges the alarm they are given the opportunity to (optionally) enter a comment. An alarm can be acknowledged from Spotlight Today (page 1) or Spotlight Home Pages (page 1).

Notes:

Right click on an alarm and select What's This? (page 1) for details regarding the alarm.

You can sort the columns in the grid. See "Sort the Grid" (page 1) for more information.
Some of the columns in the grid may be hidden by default. Use the Column Organizer to select the columns you want to see. See "Show, Hide & Order Columns" (page 1) for more information.
The alarm log can be saved to a file or the clipboard. See "Save to File" (page 1) for more information.

From the Action ribbon group

Some actions are disabled until an alarm is selected.

Action	Description
Diagnose	Show the drilldown relevant to the selected alarm. See "Drilldowns Ribbon Group" (page 1) for more information.
Alarm settings	Configure the selected alarm by opening the Alarms dialog. See "Alarms Dialog" (page 1) for more information.
Ignore this alarm	Ignore the selected alarm based on keys. See Configure Keyed Alarms (page 1) and Configure an Alarm to Ignore Certain Values (page 1) for more information.
Show in Alarms by Time	Show the selected alarm in Alarms by Time. See "Alarms by Time" (page 1) for more information.
Find	Find text in the grid. See "Find Text" (page 1) for more information.

From the Filter ribbon group

Control which alarms are displayed from the Filter group.

Filter	Description
Filter by Severity	View alarms of a certain severity. See "Alarm Severity and Color Scheme" (page 1) for more information.
Filter by Connection	Select the connection names and type to be displayed.
Hide Snoozed Alarms	Remove snoozed alarms from the grid.

What's This?

If an alarm has been raised then What's This? provides assistance in resolving the alarm. Right click on the alarm in the Alarm Log and select What's This?.

Interface	Description
Diagnose	Open the Spotlight drilldown page relevant to diagnosing the alarm.
Alarm History	Show the alarm in Alarms by Time (page 1).
Snooze	Temporarily remove the visual alert associated with the (selected) alarm. See "Snooze Alarms" (page 1) for more information.
Alarm Settings	Open the Alarms Dialog (page 1) for the alarm.
Alarm Help	Show help on the alarm.
