After you have created a server model, you can edit it from the Server Model Editor dashboard.

To configure an MBean type, follow the procedure in Adding a Root Type to an MBean Server Model , beginning from Step 6. Only the first step of the Adding a Root Type procedure is omitted; all other steps in these two procedures are the same.
If you have an MBean type that is both a root query and is exposed through a relationship to another MBean type, you can stop using the MBean type as a root query. To do so, click the name of the MBean type and select Discontinue as Root Query. This option is only available for types that are both root queries and exposed through relationships.

On the Server Model Editor dashboard, click the MBean type’s Name in the Configured MBean Types table. |

In the list that opens, select Make Root Query. |

You can specify the MBean instances to monitor by default at the server model level. These settings apply to all agents, unless you specify agent instance overrides, as described in Define Server Model Instance Overrides for a JMX Agent .

On the Server Model Editor dashboard, click the text in the Monitored Instances column (for example, Do Not Monitor or All available) for an MBean Root Type. |

In the Monitored Instances dialog box that opens, do one of the following: |

To monitor all instances that are available for the MBean type by default, select Monitor all available instances. |

To specify which instances to monitor, select Monitor some available instances as follows, and then do one of the following: |

Click Add Object Name Query to include or exclude instances that match the results of an object name query. On the Match Instances dialog box, type a query for the object name in the box, then click Set. Matching instances are included by default. To exclude them, clear the Include check box. |
• |
Click Add Regular Expression to include or exclude instances that match regular expression text. On the Match Instances dialog box, type the regular expression text in the box, then click Set. Instances with matching text are included by default. To exclude them, clear the Include check box. |
