Host type is shown as a "VWVirtualMachine" type when it is actually a Physical Box. Can be seen in the Hosts | Hosts dashboard | hover over 'Type' field next to the Host Name.
Two causes:
1. The hostname actually started out as a VMWare host, then moved to a physical host.
Resolution: 1st - make sure the original VMWare host is no longer running the Fglam software (remove it completely). 2nd - disable and re-enable the Core-Hosts dashboard to rebuild the topology model for the hosts.
2. In our case, there were two instances of the Fglam software running on the new physical box. Remove one copy of the Fglam. May also want to remove and add back in the Fglam service if it is running on a Windows box (so that the correct Fglam service pointer exists in the Agent Manager service properties). Remove the Fglam service with
/fglam_home/bin/fglam -r
add it back in with
/fglam_home/bin/fglam -i
After this, may want to disable/re-enable the Core-Hosts cartridge again on the FMS (as described in number 1 above) to force rebuild of hosts topology.
