I have tried to raise the memory allocations for Foglight 5 Server jvm above current value of 2048m (option 0, option 1), but, the Foglight Server would not start up due to unavailability of memory requested. So, I was forced to revert to 2048m.
1) Customer had installed 32bit FMS software rather than 64bit
2) ZFS memory fragmentation
JVM does require contiguous memory. So if zfs introduces fragmentation, then it will affect how much memory is available for use to the jvm. This is a Sun JRE issue and not Foglight problem.
The Foglight Management Server log with a _001 extension contains startup information for the server.
Searching on 'foglight server' will locate the line which indicates which version (32 or 64bit) FMS software is installed.
"Starting Forge Server. VERBOSE [main] com.quest.nitro.startup.FoglightServer - System Information: solaris sparc 5.10, Java 1.6.0_23 (32 bit)."
This example indicates the 32bit FMS installer was run; even though the SPAC O/S was 64bit.
Download your appropriate FMS version 64bit software from Supportlink. Run the installer selecting the 'custom' radio button and provide the path to your FMS installation to update it to 64bit.
