What permissions are required to monitor ASM instances?
The username for the ASM agent can be "SYS" or "ASMSNMP".
The possible values for the ASM user type can be "SYSASM" or "SYSDBA".
Foglight is able to connect to the ASM instance only with the user that was granted SYSASM or SYSDBA role.
This can be specified when adding a new ASM agent into Foglight.
ASMSNMP, a user with SYSDBA privileges that was introduced in Oracle version 11gR2, is also supported. This user type, which has less privileges than sys user, is created during the configuration for monitoring of Oracle ASM instance. By default ASMSNMP has the SYSDBA privilege, but this doesn't also mean that the DBA can't grant the user the "SYSASM" privilege
Only the users ASMSNMP or SYS with the role SYSASM or SYSDBA can be used as there is no standard Oracle user in ASM.
NOTE: SYS (a powerful user which may execute commands like ALTER, STARTUP, SHUTDOWN, etc.) is not required.
