How to migrate Foglight HA from Windows 32-bit to 64-bit platform -
Description
If Foglight HA is installed on Windows 32-bit platform, there is a limitation of the JVM. By default is is limited to about 1 GB (this is Sun limitation), so if the number of agents grow, the performance degrades.
The solution would be to migrate to 64-bit platform where there is no limit for the memory and JVM size.

Resolution
Steps to migrate from HA based on 32-bit Windows to 64-bit OS (Windows, Linux or Solaris)
1. Stop FMS on the second (passive) existing node. Stop the whole machine.
2. Install new second node using new 64-bit system, make sure it has the same name and IP addres than old secondary node.
3. Install Foglight on the new second node, configure it to be a part of the same partition (check foglight.config on the old primary node). Make sure the database connection is valid. Note: The version must be the same as on the old HA.
4. Start Foglight on the new second node, make sure it starts OK, working as a secondary FMS.
5. Stop FMS on the old primary node. The new secondary node should become primary now.
6. Stop old primary machine.
7. Install new primary node using new 64-bit system, make sure it has the same name and IP addres as an old primary node.
8. Install FMS on the new primary, configure it to be a part of the same partition. Make sure the database connection is valid.
9. Start FMS on the new primary, make sure it works as a secondary server.
10. Restart the FMS on the new secondary, the new primary (started in point 4) will became active and the new secondary passive.
Benefits:
- It is not necessary to change anything on the agents, they will reconnect automatically as the names of the nodes and the IP addreses will remain the same.
- It is not necessary to do anything on the backend database, it needs to be up and running all the time.
