User gets Java Null Pointer Exception when accessing dashboard (4248583)

A Foglight user gets the following error when accessing a dashboard. This is particularly seen with custom dashboards.

java.lang.NullPointerException

RESOLUTION 1

- Go to Configuration | User Preferences dashboard
- Expand Advanced
- Check the box Disable user interaction persistence
- Log out and relogin again


RESOLUTION 2

Delete and then recreate the user.
