The spawned processes "/usr/bin/hal-get-property --udi /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer --key smbios.system.uuid" are traced back to the "System ID" script the UnixAgent / DellUnixAgent run to gather the system id from the Unix servers.
Disabling the "Collect System ID" from the Agent properties also does not help because the agent runs the above script and by deselecting the checkbox we just ask Foglight Management Server not to display the same.
The script just contains a Unix one line command to retrieve the system id from Unix servers based on the type which works for almost all types of Unix machines. But in some cases where the server configuration or setup is not proper the script does not return any values and it just hangs which causes multiple processes to be spawned at every collection interval.
As the Unix command does not return any output there is no way to handle the spawned processes from the Foglight side.
The only way to prevent the spawning of these processes is to kill them manually either by setting up a cron job on the Unix server or by creating a rule which will trigger an action of deleting the unwanted spawned processes.
