1) The maximum number of devices for one agent is different for different mode and different services.
- Normal mode
- Agent Manager ICMP Service
- max: 105 devices per 5 minutes
- OS-Level ICMP Services:
- max: 300 devices per 5 minutes
- Quick check mode
- Agent Manager ICMP Service:
- max: 1198 devices per 5 minutes
- OS-Level ICMP Services:
- max: 1600 devices per 5 minutes
NOTE:The agent could monitor the maximum number of devices only if the devices response fast enough and the DNS lookup fast enough.
2) By default, the agent will start 20 threads for devices to get pinged. So there are 20 devices getting pinged at the same time at most. If one the these 20 devices finish, it moves onto the next.
For example, if we have 900 devices for one agent. At the beginning of the schedule, "Device A1", "Device A2","Device A3"..."Device A20" get pinged at the same time. If "Device A3" finishes, then "Devices A30" (maybe other devices since it is random) gets pinged. The schedule finishes when all devices get pinged.
If this schedule finishes in scheduled time (10 minutes by default), then in the next schedule the "Device A1" will get pinged again. If not, it will wait for all devices to finish getting pinged and then get the second ping for each devices
