For a Foglight installation in HA mode. How can we tell which of the nodes is Primary or Secondary?
There are a couple different ways to find out which node is the primary (Active) node for Foglight.
Using one of the following scripts via the Foglight command-line interface to determine the primary node name or if the primary node.
Get the primary node name:
import com.quest.nitro.service.sl.interfaces.ha.*; def serviceHA = server["HaMembershipService"]; msg = new StringBuilder (); msg = ""; msg += serviceHA.getPrimaryServerNodeName(); msg +="/" msg += serviceHA.getPrimaryServerHostName(); return msg;
Check if server is primary:
import com.quest.nitro.service.sl.interfaces.ha.*; def serviceHA = server["HaMembershipService"]; return serviceHA.getIsPrimaryServer();
To use, copy the scripts contents to a file and run from the command-line interface; for example:
./fglcmd.[sh,bat] -srv <FMS IP address> -port 8080 -usr foglight -pwd foglight -cmd script:run -f ReturnPrimaryServerName.groovy
Search in the Management Logs logs ([FMS_HOME]/logs/ManagementServer_YYYY-MM-DD_hhmmss_###.log).
Below is an example of the entry you should look for:
YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss.SSS INFO [main] com.quest.nitro.service.ha.HAMembershipService - HAMembership service started.
YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss.SSS INFO [main] com.quest.nitro.service.ha.HAMembershipService - Running as a secondary server of the partition FMS_HA with 2 servers in total.
To see additional information about the cluster, go to the 'Management Server Configuration' dashboard and click on any of the items under the 'High Availability' section to access the 'HA Detail Information' dashboard to view the primary node and a list of currently connected peers.
Note: When Foglight Management Servers are configured as an HA cluster, the browser interface for each of the secondary Management Servers redirects to the primary Management Server.
Login with http://fms-host:port/jmx-console using the 'foglight' account.
Note: make sure you Sign Out of any Foglight Admin Console sessions you have open as the non-'foglight' account, or when you login to the jmx console, it will try to automatically use those non-'foglight' account credentials
Search for the string "service=HAClusterInfoService" and click the hyperlink.
The values are stored here for HA related information; Look for the details in the first table, for field "PrimaryServerHostName"
