Restore Toad for SQL Server to its original, default state by clearing user-configured settings. This is useful for troubleshooting or starting fresh.
Quit the application completely before proceeding to avoid conflicts.
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to:
C:\Users\<Your_Windows_User>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\
Find the folder corresponding to your installed version, for example:
Toad for SQL Server 7.4
Rename it to:
Toad for SQL Server 7.4.OLD
(This preserves your prior settings as a backup.)
When you launch Toad again, do not migrate settings from any previous version—choose CANCEL or NO when prompted.
Verify that Toad loads with default settings and behavior. Conduct any tests relevant to your initial issue to ensure the reset has resolved it.
