Customize Toolbars and Menus

Toad allows you to customize the current toolbars and menus and to create your own toolbars. You can also use the Customize dialog to reset menus and toolbars to the default settings.

To add a command to a toolbar or menu

  1. Select Tools | Customize (ALT+T+C).
  2. Select the Commands tab.
  3. Select the command you want to add and drag it to the toolbar or menu.

To use small buttons in main toolbar

  • Right-click the main toolbar and deselect Use Large Icons.

To add or remove buttons in main toolbar

  • Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the main toolbar. Select Add or Remove Buttons | File.

To customize toolbars and menus

  1. Select Tools | Customize from the menu (ALT+T+C).

  2. Select the Toolbars tab.
    • To display a toolbar in the Main toolbar area, select (check) the toolbar from the list.
    • To create a new custom toolbar, click New and enter a name. Then drag commands (Commands tab) to the new toolbar.
    • Review the following Toolbars tab options.

      Use Whole Row

      Select this checkbox for each toolbar you want to display by itself on a row.

      Note: You cannot delete the default toolbar.

  3. Select the Commands tab.
    • To add a command to a toolbar or menu, select the command and drag it to the toolbar/menu.
  4. Select the Options tab. Review the following options.

    Always show full menus

    Select this checkbox to display the full name of menu options without truncating any characters. This checkbox is selected by default.

    Reset my usage data

    Click this button to reset all customized usage data to the installed defaults, including options set in the following:

    • Configuration wizard
    • Options pages (Tools | Options)
    • Toolbars
    • Menus

    Reset all customizations

    Click this button to remove all menu and toolbar customizations.

Considerations and Limitations

Consideration/Limitation Description
SQL Editor custom toolbar migration

A SQL Editor custom toolbar is not migrated when upgrading to a different architecture (bitness) of Toad, i.e., 32-bit to 64-bit or vice versa.

If you upgrade to a version of Toad with the same architecture (bitness), your custom SQL Editor toolbar is migrated successfully.
