Recovering the database

After restoring the datafiles, you can choose to recover the database, tablespace, or datafile.

RECOVER TABLESPACE <Tablespace Name>
RECOVER DATAFILE '<datafile name with complete path>';

Opening the database for use

After recovery terminates, open the database for use by issuing the following command at the SQL*Plus prompt:

Using advanced User Managed restore procedures

With the User Managed backup method, Plug‑in for Oracle lets you rename the Control File, Datafiles, and Archive Log Directory or Individual Archived Log files during restore. Renaming files can be useful if you do not want to overwrite the existing version and want to create a copy of the file. You can also relocate the files to a different directory while restoring it with the plug-in.

In the Navigation pane, click Create Restore Job, select Plug‑in for Oracle from the Plugin Type list.

On the Create Selection Set page, select the item that you want to rename or relocate.

From the Actions list, select Rename.

In the Rename/Relocate dialog box, enter the applicable information, and click OK.
Rename: Enter the new name.
Relocate: Enter the new path.

On the Create Selection Set page, click Edit Plugin Options.

Click the Restore Options tab, select Allow Overwrite Existing Files, and click OK.
IMPORTANT: When renaming individual archive log files during a restore job, perform media recovery with SET AUTORECOVERY OFF, and enter the archive log filenames manually to indicate the revised filenames.
