Rapid Recovery agent service starts then immediately stops with the following error:
"The Quest Rapid Recovery Agent Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
Quest does not provide support for problems that arise from improper modification of the registry. The Windows registry contains information critical to your computer and applications. Make sure you back up the registry before modifying it. For more information on the Windows Registry Editor and how to back up and restore it, refer to Microsoft Article ID 256986 “Description of the Microsoft Windows registry” at Microsoft Support.
To resolve the issue:
Open regedit and change the following values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AppRecovery\Agent\serviceHost\ServiceBaseAddress https://:8006/apprecovery/api/
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AppRecovery\Agent\InstallerParameters\Port
Change the 8006 to a port that isn't in use. Agent service default ports are 8006, 8007, 8009, 8010.
To test if a port is in use or not, open an administrator command prompt, and run the following command:
netstat -aon | find "8006"
Replace 8006 with any port you'd like, to see if it's in use. If the command returns the command prompt with nothing else, then the port is not in use. If it returns a line that has an IP address and port and says listening or established, then that port is in use and try another port.
Then protect the machine with the new port that you changed in the registry.
