We will be releasing a new polling feature for Desktop Update Agent (DUA) 2.5 that will enable the agent to regularly check for active Switch Applications Tasks in On Demand Migration (ODM) and automatically launch for the end-user when a task is found. This feature will reduce the overall interaction required from end-users, removing the need to manually start the wizard or reboot the workstation.
This feature is scheduled to release starting November 4th, but customers can request earlier access by contacting Quest Support.
Migration administrators should review and update their DUA processes and templates as needed to align with the new polling behavior changes.
When submitting the Switch Applications Task, the options on the “Schedule” step of the task will now behave as follows:
The default option will change from “Run now” to “Schedule” to reduce the potential of DUA immediately auto-launching in scenarios where migration administrators pre-submit the task prior to notifying end-users. You can change the scheduled time or choose one of the other two options to align with your user notification process.
Note: Polling will only work with DUA 2.5 and newer. Older versions of DUA will not utilize polling.
