Description:
While Reverse Engineering a SQL Server database, the error above appears in Data Modeler's Advisory Pane; also, Columns and other information is missing from the resulting model.
Solution:
One potential cause of this issue is the Target Database selected is of a different version than the database being reverse engineered. For example, if SQL Server version 2016 is chosen for a SQL Server version 2012 instance error may occur. Consequently, please make sure that the target database version selected in erwin Data Modeler matches the version of the database being worked with.
Should issue persist, you can check the SQL Trace file which captures the queries sent to the database to retrieve the data from the database. The process to activate and create the SQL Trace file is detailed in a document that you can access from the URL below:
