Installation of Prerequisites Fails during Agent/Core Software setup (4034318)

CRT 2010 or other prerequisites may fail if either the installation temp folder or download installer are located in an encrypted location. Some errors you may see are:

"Error Code -1073741823"

or

"Error Code 110"

or

"Installation of prerequisite Microsoft System CLR Types for SQL Server 2008 R2 (x86) failed with error code: 1639"

Solution A:

To resolve this issue, complete the following steps.

1. Open a command prompt and type set | find “TEMP”
2. Note the path that displays.
3. In Explorer, navigate to the path given in the step above and open the Properties folder.
4. Click Advanced.
5. Deselect the box marked Encrypt Contents to Secure Data.
   1. NOTE: If the box is checkered gray, repeat steps 3-5 for each Parent Folder until encryption is removed.
6. Re-run the installer.
7. If the previous steps do not resolve this issue:
   1. Move the installer to a confirmed un-encrypted location.
   2. Re-run the installer.

Solution B:

1. Download a file extraction utility such as 7-Zip File Manager or Winrar to extract files from the Agent or Core installation executable.

2. Right-clicking on the EXE and choosing extract. or Rename the extension .EXE to an archive extension like .ZIP or .RAR, and extract the files.
