Connecting an existing external storage device directly to the K2000 (4300831)

If you've already migrated your data from internal storage to external storage using an NFS share on your production network and you'd like to direct connect your K2000's second network port to your NAS device to allow for a dedicated connection, please contact KACE Technical Support before making any changes to the NFS configuration. 

Here's what the process will look like:

1. In the K2000 web interface, navigate to Settings > Network Settings and set the Secondary IP Address (and subnet mask, if applicable) to reflect the IP address you will use for the K2000's direct connection to the NAS device. 
2. Create a support ticket referencing this article and request a tether key to apply to your K2000. Make sure to include the following information in the ticket:
   • K2000 version
   • The new NAS IP address
   • The NFS share path
3. Once the tether connection is active, support will need to change the database and file system table to reflect the new location
4. Support will notify you when the changes have been made. When you're ready to make changes to the NAS device, shut down the K2000.
5. Change the IP address on the NAS and direct connect the devices together. If you are utilizing IP address access restrictions on the NFS share, make sure to allow the K2000's secondary IP address
6. Turn the K2000 back on, it will use the new IP address to mount the external storage NFS share
