Not all SQL Servers are listed when clicking the dropdown menu to add SQL Servers to a new discovery.

Cause
To obtain a list of SQL servers we use the Microsoft API SmoApplication.EnumAvailableSqlServers:

This call sends out a UDP broadcast on the network with a timeout to obtain a list in a relatively small amount of time. -
Resolution
Common reasons this may not return a server is if the SQL Browser service is disabled (on the remote server), if the server is marked as hidden (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179327.aspx) , or if the TCP port 1433 or UDP 1434 (Browser Service) is blocked.
