Need to deploy new ER server, is cloning the ER server a viable way? -
Description
Enterprise reporter has been installed in your environment and is producing reports. The organization need a new Enterprise Reporter, can the existing ER server be cloned and be used as is after the cloning process? -
Resolution
It is possible to clone the ER server, but doing so will result int the server pointing out to the existing configuration database, this will generate conflicts with the original server, therefore, creating a new database will be necessary. When a new database is created with the database wizard, all configurations and discoveries will be lost. Only one ER server should be pointing to the database.
It is preferable to create a new server and install Enterprise Reporter from scratch.
