If you ordered a DR4300e
All DR4300e orders will minimally include one 4.5 TB capacity license. This license will not be installed in the factory. Therefore, your DR Series appliance will boot into maintenance mode, waiting for a license to be installed. Follow the procedure listed below to install your license(s).
If you ordered a DR6300 or DR4300
The internal capacity for the DR4300 and the DR6300 is not licensed, so these systems will boot into operational mode. However, before you can add a license for DR2000vs or expansion shelves to these systems, you need to follow the procedure listed below to install your license(s).
If you ordered an Expansion Shelf or DR2000v
Before you can install the license(s) on any system, whether it is a newly ordered DR6300 / DR4300 or an existing system (DR6300, DR6000, DR4100, etc.) that is already in use, you need to follow the procedure listed below to install your license(s).
Installing Licenses
1. Get your license from the License Portal as follows:
In order to obtain a license for the DR4300e, Add-on 4.5TB, or MD expansion you must first register the service tag of your appliance/expansion unit. Please register at: https://support.quest.com/my-account/licensing
Note: If you have ordered a DR4300e 4.5 TB Add-on license or a DR2000v VM, you must use the license number sent to you via email in order to register. If you did not receive this email, please visit https://support.quest.com/contact-us/licensing
2. Upgrade your system to a version that supports the new license format as follows:
A) Select the following patch if your model is a DR6000, a DR4100 or a DR4000:
B) Select the following patch if your model is a DR6300, a DR4300 or a DR4300e:
Note: The next update to the DR Series factory installed image will include the new license libraries. Once this update is completed, it will not be necessary to update the DR Software on new systems to install your license(s).
Installing the patch:
1. Using the DR Series system GUI, select Support, and click the Software Upgrade link (or select Support/Software Upgrade).
The Software Upgrade page is displayed.
2. Type the path of the software upgrade file in the Select the upgrade file from local disk (or click Browse..., and navigate to the location where you downloaded the system software upgrade file).
3. Select the software upgrade file, and click Open.
4. Click Start Upgrade.
When you initiate a DR Series system software upgrade, the navigation panel displays only the Support page and the Software Upgrade option.
The administrator that initiated the software upgrade (known as the initiator administrator) sees a System Information pane that displays an alert and upgrade status, and the Current Version and Upgrade History versions of the DR Series system software listed in the Software Info pane.
There are only three possible outcomes during a DR Series system software upgrade operation:
Upgrade has completed successfully - no reboot is required.
Upgrade has completed successfully - but a reboot is required (click Reboot in the Software Upgrade page).
Upgrade has failed.
NOTE: If the DR Series system software upgrade operation fails, you can reboot the system and attempt another software upgrade operation using the DR Series system GUI. If this is unsuccessful, you can use the DR Series system CLI system --show command to view the current System State status. DR Series system software upgrades can also be performed using the DR Series system CLI. If both the DR Series system GUI and CLI attempts are unsuccessful, for details, see the DR Series System Command Line Reference Guide.
NOTE: The DR Series system only supports the copying of upgrade images and diagnostics files to and from the system using WinSCP. The DR Series system does not support the copying or deleting of any other file types using WinSCP. To use WinSCP to copy DR Series software upgrade and diagnostics log files, ensure that the File Protocol mode is set to SCP (Secure Copy) mode.
NOTE: You can use other SCP tools with the DR Series system, but you cannot use these other SCP tools to copy other types of files to or from the DR Series system.
