How to Move the Replication Target DR to Another Location?
"The customer is ready to move 2nd appliance to DR location - it has been replicating locally. Do you have a recommended procedure to do this?"
For more information on this topic, please see the DR Series System Administration 4.0 Web-based Training
If you have to break the replication pair due to IP change or something, then it will do a resync of everything. This sounds like a huge amount of data but the target side doesn't just delete all of its bits. The source syncs up the metadata and sends the actual blocks it needs.
Instructions to relocate target DR with IP change:
1. Break Replication pair
b. break replication on target using force option
2. Shutdown target
3. Move target to new destination
4. Start up target and reconfigure DR with new IP
5. Reconfigure replication relationship
If the requirement doesn’t involve reconfiguring a new IP, replication pair is still in place we have a journal for what needs to be sent. When the Target comes back online it continues from where it was last able to send data
Instructions to relocate target DR without IP change
1. Stop replication in the GUI
2. Shutdown target DR
3. Move target to desired location
4. Boot up target DR
5. Start replication
