Task switching with ALT- Tab in Windows XP with Toad for Oracle and its DESC window open can cause the Column Sort options dialog never pop up
- AND/OR-
cause the DESC window hangs.
This happems when a third-party application is involved in the Task switching.
WORKAROUND:
None
STATUS:
Waiting for fix in a future version of Toad for Oracle.
1. Run Notepad
2. Run Toad, make sure Toad is not maximized.
3. Connect to an Oracle DB
4. Open an Editor and type "desc all_tables" and then press ctrl-Enter to bring up the Describe Objects window.
5. Maximized the Describe Objects window
6. Press Alt-Tab to switch to Notepad
7. Press Alt-Tab to switch to Toad, notice the Describe Objects window is the active window, as expected.
8. Press Alt-Tab to switch to Notepad, notice the Describe Objects window is behind the Toad Main Window.
9. Press Alt-Tab to switch to Toad, the active window now is the Toad Main Window.
10. Click the Describe Objects window to bring it to the front
11. Click the Data Tab on the right pane.
12. Click the column "TABLE_NAME" to sort that column. But the Sort options dialog is nowhere to be seen. This is bug #1. Notice Toad appear to hang and clicking anywhere will not get a respond.
