Trying to trace session, after tracing and trying to open trace file. getting Error -
Beschreibung
In session browser, after starting and stopping a trace (right click), Toad prompts asking if you want to retrieve from server and load trace into Trace File Browser for review. After clicking yes, it errors out:
ORA-29283: invalid file operation
ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_FILE", line 536
ORA-29283: invalid file operation
ORA-06512: at line 4This is only an issue for some sessions and not all.

The Oracle OS user must have read and/or write privileges on the OS directory. This means the directory must be visible from the database server. If the Oracle OS user does not have the appropriate privileges on the OS directory, or if the path specified in the database does not match to an actual path, or the file itself does not exist, the program will give this exception. -
Lösung
Verify that the path is correct and accessible.
Verify that the trace file has been created and exists.

Weitere Informationen
This applies to all versions of Toad. If the session being traced does not have any activity between when the trace starts and finishes, a file will not be created. There may be other reasons too, but that is Oracle specific. The file name specified in the session browser comes from Oracle. The name of the file is known before tracing starts (if it starts at all). Just because it is noted in Toad's session browser window does not mean it acutually exists.
