Spotlight on Oracle 10.5 - Release Notes

Recovery Area Page

The Recovery Area page in the Disk Storage drilldown displays performance statistics related to the Oracle flash recovery area.

When available, the flash recovery area is a location — a directory, file system, or ASM disk group — where Oracle can store the backup and recovery files that are used to recover data that has been lost or corrupted by logical errors (such as human error).

To open the Recovery Area Page

  1. Select the Spotlight on Oracle connection in the Spotlight Browser.
  2. Click Disk Storage | Recovery Area.

Note: The Recovery Area page is unable to display flash recovery statistics for some Oracle systems.

  • (Oracle 10g Release 1) Only the Flashback Log IO chart is populated, and some home-page components are grayed out.
  • (Oracle 10g Release 2 and later) The Recovery Area page displays all the required data. If the components on this page contain incomplete data, flashback has been disabled.

Description

Flashback Log IO

Flashback Log IO shows the rate of I/O operations to the flashback log files.

Flash Utilization

Flash Utilization shows the sizes of various file types within the flash recovery area over time.

The types of files typically found in the recovery area include:

  • Archived logs.
  • Backup pieces.
  • Control files.
  • Flashback logs.
