Queue Filling Rule

Purpose

This rule monitors the rates at which messages are added and removed to concrete queues and generates alarms when predefined thresholds are reached.

Scope

MQConcreteQueue

Rule Definition
Conditions	State
The amount of messages in the queue exceed the high watermark and continues to increase.	Warning

Queue is Disabled Rule

Purpose

This rule monitors if read- or write-level permissions are enabled for a queue and generates alarms if these permissions are disabled. If any of these permissions are disabled for a queue, messages can not move into or out of the queue.

Conditions	State
The ability to write or read messages from a queue is not available.	Warning

Queue Manager Not Available Rule

Purpose

This rule checks if the agent is able to connect to the queue manager. If an agent cannot connect to the queue manager, check the following:

•

Your connection settings are correct.


	NOTE: Connection settings are set in the MQAgent properties. For more information, see the Foglight for IBM WebSphere MQ Server Installation Guide.

•

The queue manager is started.

•

A listener process is running.

Rule Definition
Conditions	State
The queue manager is not available.	Fatal

Queue Monitoring Rule

Purpose

This rule checks if concrete queues are enabled for monitoring on their respective queue manager. When queue monitoring is disabled for a concrete queue, its oldestMessageAge metric is unavailable.

Conditions	State
Queue monitoring is disabled for a concrete queue.	Warning
