Roles Explorer view

The Roles Explorer view is part of the Exchange Site Environment Summary view (which appears when an individual site is selected in the Exchange Environment dashboard) and the Exchange Site Explorer Summary view (which appears when an individual site is selected in the Exchange Infrastructure view on the Exchange Explorer dashboard).

The contents of this view depends on the role selected on the left pane.

The Role Explorer view displays the following top three charts for the Client Access role.

Top 3 Active Sync Request/sec. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest Active Sync Request/sec over the specified time interval. The chart displays the names of the top three Exchange servers and their request count.

Top 3 OWA Average Response Time. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest OWA response times over the specified time interval. The chart displays the names of the top three Exchange servers and their average response times.

Top 3 OWA User. This graph displays the top three Exchange servers that reported the highest number of OWA users during the specified time interval.

The Role Explorer view displays the following top three charts for the Edge Transport role.

Top 3 Submission Queues. This graph displays the top three Exchange servers that reported the highest number of entries in the Submission Queue during the specified time interval.

Top 3 Unreachable Queues. This graph displays the top three Exchange servers that reported the highest number of entries in the Unreachable Queue during the specified time interval.

Top 3 Messages Received/sec. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest number of messages received per second over the specified time interval. The chart displays the names of the top three Exchange servers and the number of messages received per second.

The Role Explorer view displays the following top three charts for the Hub Transport role.

Top 3 Submission Queues. This graph displays the top three Exchange servers that reported the highest number of entries in the Submission Queue during the specified time interval.

Top 3 Unreachable Queues. This graph displays the top three Exchange servers that reported the highest number of entries in the Unreachable Queue during the specified time interval.

Top 3 Messages Received/sec. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest number of messages received per second over the specified time interval. The chart displays the names of the top three Exchange servers and the number of messages received per second.

Displays the following top three charts for the Mailbox 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016 roles.

Top 3 RPC Requests. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest number RPC requests over the specified time interval. The chart displays the names of the top three Exchange servers and the number of RPC requests.

Top 3 RPC Average Latency. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported a server RPC latency averaged for the past 1,024 packets for a particular client protocol.

Top 3 Log Thread Waiting. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest number of threads waiting for their data to be written to the log to complete a database update. The chart displays the names of the top three Exchange servers and the number of Log Thread waiting.

Displays the following top three charts for the Unified Messaging role.

For Exchange 2007:

Top 3 Call Answer Queued Messages. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest number of voice messages or missed calls submitted from the bridgehead server or Hub Transport server.

Top 3 Queued OCS User Event Notifications. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest number of notifications that have been created and not yet submitted for delivery.

Top 3 Unhandled Exceptions/sec. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest number of unhandled exceptiones that occurred per second.

For Exchange 2010, 2013, 2016:

Top 3 Operations over Six Seconds. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest number of UM operations that took more than six seconds to complete. This is the time during which a caller was waiting for Unified Messaging to respond.

Top 3 Inbound Calls Rejected by the UM Service. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest number of incoming calls that were rejected by the Microsoft® Exchange Unified Messaging service.

Top 3 Inbound Calls Rejected by the UM Worker Process. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest number of incoming calls that were rejected by the UM Worker process.

Role Features State view

This embedded view is part of:

This view provides a list of the servers performing the selected role in your Exchange environment. Selecting a server in this list then displays additional details and status information regarding the selected Exchange server.

The details provided in this view are based on the selected role.

State. State indicator showing the current state of the most severe alarm on the server hosting each of the roles.

Server. Name of the server hosting that role.

Version. Exchange version running on the selected server.

Feature State. Indicates whether the feature selected for each role is running on each of the servers listed.

This embedded view is part of an Exchange Role Environment Summary view when an individual role is selected in the Object Tree view in the Quick View of the Exchange Environment dashboard. For details, see Client Access Role Environment Summary view, Edge Transport Role Environment Summary view, Hub Transport Role Environment Summary view, Mailbox Role Environment Summary view, and Unified Messaging Role Environment Summary view.

The contents of this view depend on the Exchange role selected.

Displays the following information for the Client Access role.

Top 3 OWA Average Response Time. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest OWA response times over the specified time interval. The chart displays the names of the top three Exchange servers and their average response times.

Top 3 OWA Average Search Time. The graph displays the top three Exchange servers in the selected site that reported the highest OWA search times over the specified time interval. The chart displays the names of the top three Exchange servers and their average search times.

Top 3 ASP.NET Current Requests. This graph displays the top three Exchange servers that reported the highest number of ASP.Net® requests during the specified time interval.

Server Health view

This embedded view is part of the Exchange Server Environment Summary view, which appears when an individual Exchange Server is selected on the Exchange Environment dashboard.

This view summaries the current health of the selected Exchange server. These counters change colors based on overall consumption or deviation from normal levels.

CPU. Displays the current CPU load.

Network. These counters indicate the present state of the network utilization for the selected server.

Memory. This counter displays what percent of memory is currently being used. It can be used to determine whether you have memory problems.

Storage. These counters indicate the present state of disk performance.

Used Space. Displays the amount of storage already in use.

Clicking a counter in this view displays a metrics popup that describes the counters, provides more detailed data points, and lists current alarms for the selected metric.
