Managing custom fields and metrics

User-defined custom fields and metrics enable you to enhance the traffic analysis data collected. In this view, you can define and manage custom fields and manage custom metrics. To set and update the values of custom fields and metrics, you need to create analyzers.

Adding, copying, and editing custom fields

To add, copy, or edit a custom field:

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click APM > Configure > Traffic Analysis.

Expand Custom Fields.

Do one of the following:
•
To add a new custom field, click Add.
•
To copy an existing custom field, click its Copy icon.
•
To edit an existing custom field, click its Edit icon.

In the dialog box, complete the options. For help with options, see Defining custom fields.

Click Save.

Removing custom fields

Removing custom fields

Before you can remove a custom field, you need to remove all references to it. Refer to the References column for a list of analyzers that update the custom field. For instructions on how to edit analyzers to remove references to a custom field, see Editing analyzers and Editing custom field updates.
To remove a custom field:

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click APM > Configure > Traffic Analysis.

Expand Custom Fields.

In the References column, check to see which, if any, analyzers update the custom field.

Edit each analyzer to remove the associated custom field update. Save your changes.

Back in the Custom Fields view, select the row check box for the custom field you want to delete.

Click Remove.
The custom field is deleted and removed from the table.

Editing custom metrics

From the Custom Metrics view, you can edit the name and description of a metric. If you want to edit other details of a custom metric, you need to edit the analyzer that creates the metric. For more information, see Editing analyzers.
To edit a metric:

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click APM > Configure > Traffic Analysis.

Expand Custom Metrics.

In the row containing the metric you want to edit, click Edit .

In the Edit Metric dialog box, edit the options as required. For help with options, see Editing custom metrics.

Click Save.
