Installing Toad for SQL Server. Getting the SQL Optimizer installation error below:
The installation of component SQL Optimizer for SQL Server has failed with the following error:
1622 - Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exist and that you can write to it.
For further information please view the log files located at:
\Quest Software\Quest Installer\Logs\QuestSQLOptimizerForSQLServer_10_0_0_2068_32bit.msi.log
Ursache

16xx installation errors i.e. 1603, 1622, 1601 are usually related to the company's network firewall blocking parts of the installation process.
Lösung

RESOLUTION 1:
Verify that you have Administrator Rights for the installation. Also veirfy that you have full read/wrtie access to the following folder:
C:\ProgramData\Quest Software\Quest Installer\
C:\Program Files (x86)\
C:\Program Files\
RESOLUTION 2:
Try installing one product at a time i.e. only install Toad first then install the other applications like SQL Optimizer one at a time after each successful install.
RESOLUTION 3:
Specify a new installation directory, different from the default C:\Program Files\Quest Software\.
(In Windows 64-bit OS systems, it would be advisable to try installing outside of the 'Program File's directory, if there continues to be installation issues.)
RESOLUTION 4:
Contact your internal Helpdesk or IT department and have them install Toad and SQL Optimizer for you.
