On Rapid Recovery 6.x, using agentless protection on VMWare systems, some agents' recovery points may show a yellow dot with a hover/fly-out message stating: "Not consistent, machine may have boot problems". This may be confusing since, by design, agentless protection is not application-aware.
In this instance, the condition was traced to VMWare tools' VSS component. It appears that it attempts to report application awareness through Rapid Recovery. This was seen on ESX 6 update 1.
Note:
If the steps above do not work. You may do a simple test on the ESXi side to know if the issue resides there:
Log in to to your ESXi enviroment ant take a snapshot of the VM checking the option of "Quiesce guest file system (Needs VMware Tools installed)". If the snapshot creation fails, this indicates that there's an issue in the ESXi environment and that's why the recovery points taken with Rapid Recovery show with the yellow dot.
