NetVault uninstall fails as well as any attempt to re-install it on Windows (4045567)

This article explains possible problems while attempting to re-install NetVault on Windows.


Symptoms:
While uninstalling NetVault on Windows the following error message is displaid:
"Error 1714. The older version of NetVault cannot be removed."

After this, although all netvault files/folders/registry keys have been manually deleted, any attempt to re-install
immediately fails with the following pop up message:
"Error 1610. The configuration data for this product is corrupt. Contact your support personnel."


Reason:
If a NetVault uninstall fails the necessary cleanup procedure won't happen leaving missing or corrupt registry
key values that will prevent subsequent install attempts from succeeding.
